Sketch Southport Logo Competition

This competition is open to all interested participants

Competition Rules:
1. Entrants must be at least 14 or older to enter.
2. All media, with the exception of video art, performance art, film, sculpture, jewelry and crafts, will be accepted. This includes traditional photography, digital photography, sketches, drawings, paintings, computer generated graphic designs, etc.
3. This new logo must represent the city of Southport in one of the following themes: Identification, Future Endeavors, Sense of Community, Heritage, Landmarks or Revitalization.
4. The design must be acceptable for signs, letterheads, official documents, police cars, etc.
5. Logos may contain text, graphics or both.
6. Logos may be black and white, or color.
7. Only one image can be submitted per entry, with a maximum of 3 entries per person.
8. All designs must be the artist’s own original work. No copyrighted material will be allowed.
9. Dimensions for online submissions should be no smaller than 300KB and no larger than 2MB.
10. Dimensions for mailed submissions should be no smaller than 8”x10” and no larger than 17”x20” (with the exceptions of photographs).
11. Each image submitted on a CD-ROM, should be labeled in the following format:
  First name_Last name_Theme name_Image#.jpg
12. Participants must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with each mailed entry to insure the return of submission.


Judging Criteria:
Design must meet aforementioned criteria. Design must showcase an aspect of the City of Southport as fair, accurate, and unbiased. Design showcases creative talent as well as artistic merit. Design is applicable for correct representation of the City of Southport for public content such as letterheads, signage, and advertisement purposes.

First Place $200
Second Place $100
Third Place $50
(winning entry may not necessarily become the permanent logo of Southport community and is subject to alteration by committee)

Competition Calendar:
Submission deadline for all artwork for the Sketch Southport Logo Competition is April 25th, 2008. All submissions must be postmarked by this day or emailed by midnight in order to judged. All submissions turned in any later than the deadline will not be judged and sent back to the participant.

Mailed Submissions:
• Logos saved to CD-ROMs are acceptable. Refer to the above criteria.
• Dimensions for mailed submissions should be no smaller than 8”x10” and no larger than 17”x20” (with the exceptions of photographs).
• Each piece of art work should be turned in with the entry form completely filled out
• Label the back of your art work with arrows indicating top, bottom, right and left
